HVAC for Rosamond Mobile Homes: What You Need to Know

You can't just install a regular house furnace in a manufactured home. Here is why.

Posted on August 8, 2025 | Location: Rosamond, CA

Rosamond is home to many manufactured and mobile home communities. These homes provide great affordable living, but they have very specific HVAC requirements.

The "HUD Rating"

Federal law requires that furnaces installed in mobile homes be "HUD Approved." These units are designed for the high static pressure of small mobile home ductwork. If you install a standard residential furnace, it will likely overheat, shut down, or cause a fire. It is also illegal and voids your home insurance.

Package Units vs. Split Systems

Many Rosamond mobile homes use "Package Units" (where the AC and heater are all in one box outside). These are great because they free up closet space inside. However, finding parts for older Intertherm or Coleman units can be tricky.

Propane Challenges

If your mobile home runs on propane, you need a specific conversion kit. Running a natural gas furnace on propane is dangerous. We specialize in safe propane conversions for rural properties.
